The Company

We are working with a company who deliver turnkey engineering projects across several process engineering sectors. The business is a world leader in their field delivering in excess of £100 million of projects annually and have experienced strong growth in the past five years as their brand and reputation continues to build.

The business delivers projects from initial design stage all the way through to commissioning of project at customer site meaning you will get to work on a variety of different size projects across the several engineering sectors they serve.  As part of their growth, they are currently looking to recruit for a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer with immediate effect.

The Role 

The Graduate Electrical Design Engineer will sit within the pre-engineering department which is currently 14 strong. The pre-engineering department is responsible for putting together the design work for the initial quotation being delivered for the potential client. This role will particularly suit someone who is interested in putting their stamp on how a project will look, but who doesn’t want the travel associated with a medium to largescale project.

As a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer within pre-engineering, you’ll be mentored to eventually be responsible for carrying out the electrical design, equipment specification and costings as part of the overall proposal.

After the enquiry comes in from the customer and the initial design definition is done by the process team responsible for the P&ID, key responsibilities will include:

  • Potential customer visit to understand more about the site
  • Creating the electrical design need for the process
  • Sizing cables, motors, sizing panels
  • Creating load schedule for the project
  • Specifying panels, instruments, cables, PLC hardware needed
  • Carrying out RFQ with vendors for above items as well as electrical installation activities
  • Carrying out any extra clarifications needed from customer for electrical scope
  • Putting all electrical equipment specs and costings together for overall proposal

The Person

To be successful in your application for this Graduate Electrical Design Engineer role you will need:

  • An Electrical Engineering related Degree
  • Someone who is interested designing and working within projects in a manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Commercially minded
  • Someone who is interested and excited by putting their own stamp on the design of a project without needing to see it through to completion
